Sustainable House Design
With help from Solar Flair's Alan Kerlin, your project can be designed to suit your needs, your site and your budget.

First principles
When you establish your key goals, they can then steer your following decisions and plans. What rooms do you need? Which ones do you want to warmed by the sun in winter? Can you avoid summer sun entering the home?
Site selection
This first step is one of the most critical for a new home. With land with the right orientation, we can help you design a truly passive solar home. Choose the wrong block, and you may have to make severe compromises to your design to meet mandatory energy rating levels. Or your orientation may be acceptable, but setbacks could prevent you from realising a functioning sustainable design.
Preliminary plans
Solar Flair can take you from basic layouts through, full site and floorplans, to 3D renderings and walkthroughs - complete with realisation of your interior decor and furnishings.
Draftman liaison
Once your preliminary plans are done, Solar Flair can help you to engage a professional drafting firm to confirm engineering and prepare plans ready for engaging a builder and lodging a development application.
Product selection
There is a myriad of decisions to be made for every house. Cladding, roof, ceiling and floor materials. Key fittings such as heating, hot water, tanks, grey water, whitegoods, lighting. With guidance from Solar Flair, you can streamline this confusing, stressful and time consuming stage of your project.
Builder liaison
The crunch point. Pick the right builder, and your project can go relatively painlessly. Choose the wrong one, and every day for 12 months or more will be a trial. Solar Flair can help you choose a builder. Then if you wish, we can act as an intermediary during the quoting and preparation, then the build itself.
